We have just installed a new helipad in the airfield so all UAV multirotors and helicopters flying and testing to the BCN Drone Center can properly take-off and land in a flat and stable surface.

Last two weeks CTC facilities have successfully held the 3rd and 4th editions of the UAV remote-sensing course. During both weeks participants have learnt all basic photogrammetry and remote-sensing concepts and how they are linked with UAV operation. They have also seen different real case-studios of UAV applications. Flights with different UAV systems have been made in order to acquire real datasets that have been used for hand-on image post-processing training such as orthophoto and digital terrain models generation or NDVI analysis for precision agriculture. In order to become one of the main civil UAV Test Sites of Europe we are continuously improving the CTC facilities. This month we have just prepared a new unpaved runway that has been precisely levelled. All rocks has been removed and thick grass has been seed so all types of UAVs can take advantage of a flat and soft surface. This will allow fixed-wing systems with both landing skate or gear to perfectly operate on the UAV Test Site.

We have just installed a Davis Vantage Pro2 weather station in the CTC. This new station provides data about wind, rain, temperature, humidity, pressure, radiation and many other interesting data that is very useful to safely operate UAVs. In a near future we plan to share all this meteo information thorough the CTC web site.

Three months after the launch of the course, we have practically fulfilled all places for the CTC inauguration course, that will have an important international presence. However, there are people interested in the course that do not have a place on it and September is still far way. So we have decided to carry a second edition of the course from 22nd to 26th of September, in order to be able to allocate everyone interested. This second course will have the same content than the first one. Early date registration for this course has been extended until the end of July, so if you have missed the opportunity to book a place in the first course, do not miss this second chance.
