LUC Deployment for Testing
April 10, 2024
It’s been less than a month since we obtained our Light UAS Operator Certificate (LUC), and it has already become a game-changing tool for our operations.
Recently, one of our clients needed to operate a UAS for testing under a Concept of Operations (CONOPS) that fell within the specific category under operational authorisation. We prepared all the required documentation to make this operation possible at our test site.
So, what was different this time?
Once all the documentation was ready, we confirmed that the planned operation fell within our LUC privileges. This meant that our team could self-approve the operation, saving months of waiting time and avoiding extra workload for already congested National Aviation Authorities.
What does this mean in practice?
We can now approve BVLOS operations or flights with UAS up to 8 metres wingspan in just a matter of weeks. This dramatically accelerates the design–prototype–test cycle, enabling much faster iterations than before.
