Celebrating 25 Years in the Drone Industry

It all began well before the year 2000, when our founder, Jordi Santacana, was already experimenting with unmanned aircraft and aerial photography, long before drones became part of everyday conversation. In 2000, he founded CATUAV, one of Europe’s very first civilian drone companies, with a clear mission: to make aerial data solutions accessible, innovative, and high-value.
From those early days, CATUAV evolved from being purely a UAS aerial services provider into something much bigger. Over time, we created our own dedicated test site, which grew into what you now know as the BCN Drone Center, a world-class UAS hub for development, testing, certification, and market entry. Today, it brings together manufacturers, operators, and end-users from all over the world, putting decades of accumulated expertise directly into our clients’ hands.
To celebrate these milestones, we recently hosted a special gathering at our test site. The day featured exciting flight demonstrations, live music, and, of course, our special BDC cocktail! It was a wonderful moment to share memories, exchange ideas, and look ahead to the next chapter.
