AeroWatch team advances to Xprize Semifinals
July 25, 2025
In a major step toward advancing global firefighting technology, AeroWatch, an international consortium of 16 companies, lead by CTTC and BCN Drone Center, has been named a semi-finalist in the prestigious XPRIZE Wildfire Autonomous Wildfire Response. The four-year, $11 million initiative aims to accelerate the development of innovative tools to combat destructive wildfires and promote sustainable coexistence with natural fire cycles.
Aerowatch’s comprehensive and collaborative approach to wildfire detection and suppression stood out among 100+ of global entrants. The nomination reflects growing urgency around the climate crisis, as extreme heat and record-breaking temperatures continue to drive the severity of wildfires worldwide.
Congratulations to all Aerowatch team members:
Avy, BCN Drone Center, Centre Tecnològic de Telecomunicacions de Catalunya (CTTC), Flare Bright Ltd., Flying Objects Technologies, Gotonomi, Near Space Labs, Pau Costa Foundation, Robotto.ai, Skycharge, Lerta, Viasat, Videosoft Global, Volant Autonomy.
