Standard Scenarios
Simplifying your entry into the Specific Category of drone operations
When your operation goes beyond the limits of the Open Category, but you still want to avoid the complexities of a full risk assessment, a Standard Scenario (STS) may be the ideal path.
Standard Scenarios are part of the Specific Category, which includes medium-risk operations. Thanks to predefined safety measures, STS allows UAS operators to submit a declaration instead of applying for a full operational authorisation, as long as their operations fully align with one of the published scenarios.
What is a Standard Scenario?
In simple terms, Standard Scenarios are templates of UAS operations that have been pre-assessed and standardised by aviation authorities. Currently, two scenarios are approved in the EASA Member States:
STS-01: VLOS over a controlled ground area in a populated environment using a C5-class drone
STS-02: BVLOS with airspace observers over a controlled ground area in a sparsely populated environment using a C6-class drone
If your operation matches these parameters, we can help you benefit from the simplified declaration route.

How We Help
1) End Users – Guidance Through Every Step
We assess whether your operational needs fit within STS-01 or STS-02 and support you through the full process:
Drafting and submitting your declaration to the NAA
Preparing necessary manuals and documentation
Assisting with remote pilot training and qualifications
2) New STS Operators (EASA and Non-EASA)
We support new operators entering the STS landscape with:
Manual development
Assistance with the declaration process
Remote pilot preparing an STS-01 drone operation
3) Experienced Operators Transitioning from STS-ES
If you currently operate under Spain’s national standard scenarios (STS-ES), note that these will expire on 31 December 2025. We help you:
Transition to the EU-wide STS framework
Adapt your manuals and procedures
Train your pilots with conversion courses
4) Non-EASA Operators Moving to STS-ES-NE
For non-EASA Spanish operators currently flying under STS-ES, we help you transition to STS-ES-NE scenarios (valid exclusively in Spain for non-EASA operators):
Manual adaptation
Understanding the new framework
Let's Make Your Next Step Simple
Whether you're exploring if STS is right for you or you're already flying under older national scenarios, we’re here to make sure your move into the Standard Scenario world is seamless, compliant, and future-proof.
