We Become a Designated Entity for Training
October 14, 2024
We’re proud to announce that BCN Drone Center is establishing itself as one of the first Designated Entities in Spain for training UAS pilots under the Specific Category under the Operational Authorisation regime.
What does this mean?
Designated Entities play a key role in the UAS ecosystem: we provide official training for operators seeking to fly in the Specific Category complying with the new Real Decreto 517/2024. The goal is simple, ensure that remote pilots are fully qualified to safely deploy their approved Concept of Operations (ConOps).
This is not a generic drone training, it’s tailored to each operator’s needs and clearly structured into three parts:
Generic Theoretical Training – Building the baseline knowledge required to operate in the Specific Category.
Specific Modules Theoretical Training – Focusing on the unique aspects of each individual CONOPS.
Practical Training & Evaluation – Deploying the intended CONOPS under real conditions, following all required procedures to guarantee operational safety.
Training Modules Available
Our flexible training program allows you to combine modules to suit any potential ConOps:
Night operations
Overflight (flight over populated areas or gatherings of people)
BVLOS operations
Low-altitude operations (below 500 ft)
Flights in non-segregated airspace
Transport and/or delivery of cargo
Multiple UAS and swarm operations
Launch and recovery of the UAS using special equipment
Flight over mountainous terrain
Operations with a high degree of automation
Operations above 120 m AGL
Operations with non-electric powered UAS
Operations in controlled airspace and Flight Information Zones (FIZ)
Operations in the vicinity of aerodromes, airports, and heliports
Operations involving the spreading or dropping of substances or materials
